Canadian Dietitians Receive Almond Tool Kit

This year at the Dietitians of Canada (DofC) Conference held in Montreal, the Almond Board took its health professional resources to registered dietitians from across Canada. The purpose of DofC is to educate dietitians on both the taste and nutritional attributes of almonds. To arm them with appropriate tools, dietitians were given an almond tool kit filled with useful teaching tools to use with their patients, and the latest almond science to help them communicate the nutritional benefits of almonds. Traceback is the ability to track your almonds one step forward, to the huller/sheller and handler, and one step back, to the orchard. If you haven't already, establish a lot-numbering system as loads are harvested, and maintain records of lot numbers as they leave the orchard, including the harvest date. An effective traceback system can rapidly identify and isolate suspect product, minimizing the disruption of processing and marketing of your almonds. Learn more about food safety issues.
