OF NOTE

TRAVELING TOM

TRAVELING TOMDuring the month of February, the ABC ran a program targeted to increase snacking consumption of almonds among our health-involved male target audience. Almond snack messages reached these men via signage, samples and informational handouts at different touch points during business travel: at American Airlines frequent flyer lounges, in Hertz Gold Club Member vehicles, at hotel check-in, and while he worked out in the hotel gym. The program ran in seven key markets: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta and Washington, DC.

BALLOT

YOUR VOTE COUNTS

April 6 - 24 marks the voting period for California Almond growers to cast their ballots regarding continuation of the grower-enacted Federal Marketing Order administered by the Almond Board of California (ABC). You should receive your ballot from USDA early in April. Completed ballots need to be postmarked by April 24. ABC’s charge is to expand domestic and global markets and to fund environmental, production, nutrition and food safety research projects that aid in the efficient and responsible production of almonds.

closing the gap

A SET OF TRAINING TOOLS is now available to help almond growers educate their workers in the application of Good Agricultural Practices in the field. The employee training kit contains a video, complete instructor guides in field sanitation, and teaching aids in English and Spanish- everything you or your supervisor needs to conduct training sessions with field workers to be sure they understand both the why and the how of orchard sanitation.

To order a set, send e-mail ABC or call (209) 549-8262
