Tier 1 diesel pump motors must be replaced with cleaner
burning Tier 4 motors by the end of the year.
Growers in the San Joaquin Valley currently operating Tier 1 diesel pump motors have until the end of this year to replace those engines with cleaner burning Tier 4 motors under state ozone regulations designed to reduce PM 2.5 and NOx emissions.
Permits must be obtained through the local air quality district before construction can begin. This process takes time; growers who have not started the process should act immediately to begin approval and installation procedures in order to meet the Jan. 2015 deadline. Incentive funding is available from the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District.
