To encourage our female consumer target audience to use almonds in springtime meal and snack preparations, the Almond Board of California (ABC) teamed up with culinary nutritionist and TheHealthyApple.com
blogger Amie Valpone to create a free, downloadable booklet filled with light recipes that satisfy appetites without overloading on calories. “Clean Eating for Spring with Amie Valpone” includes tips, quick breakfast ideas, a full menu for a spring dinner party, and tasty snacks on the go.
ABC pitched the collection of tips and recipes to traditional media and leveraged it with other popular food and nutrition bloggers, as well as on its Facebook and Twitter pages. Valpone’s almond recipes have been covered by numerous outlets including Fox News, The Huffingon Post, FoodNetwork.com, Shape.com, Glamour.com and the popular Examiner blog.
“Spring is my favorite time of year, and I love the way food takes a lighter spin during these warmer months,” Valpone says. “Our comfort food cravings dwindle and we yearn to eat clean. For my ‘Clean Eating for Spring’ booklet, I’ve developed nutrient-rich recipes bursting with bright spring flavors.”
Each recipe features fresh and on-trend ingredients, including almonds. For those with dietary restrictions, Valpone has included modifications for gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian and dairy-free recipes. Her tips featured throughout the booklet offer simple ideas and modifications to lighten favorite dishes, including how to make:
- Dairy-free French toast
- A quick and easy Mediterranean almond dip
- A delicious bread crumb alternative
- A healthier, satisfying spin on a decadent hot fudge sundae
