Conference Blast

So, we made the big move — to Sacramento — and we were pleased. Thanks to everyone who wound their way to the Capital City for the 40th annual Almond Conference, held last December at the Sacramento Convention Center.

We learned a lot, we shared a lot, and we laughed a lot. It was a blast!

Occasionally, one has to take a leap of faith. Would growers and handlers support the Sacramento move with increased attendance? Would we be able to rent all of the exhibit space to qualified exhibitors? Would spouses support Sacramento as a preholiday destination? Would attendees want to stay for the entire program, including the Gala Dinner, which was moved to the last evening of the Conference? The answers are: yes, yes, yes and yes!

The new venue was a resounding success. The Convention Center’s look and feel elevated our annual gathering to a level commensurate with the stature of our industry. Many convention goers had that “We’re not in Kansas anymore” look about them. As one ABC Board member put it: “There ain’t no going back.”

So whether you’re a repeat offender or a Conference newbie, there is nowhere else in the world that you will want to be on Dec. 3, 4 and 5, 2013, than at The Almond Conference in Sacramento, learning a lot, sharing a lot and laughing a lot. You’ll have a blast!

Sincerely,
Richard Waycott
President and CEO
