Federal Laws and Regulations that Affect the Almond Industry
The USDA rule requiring pasteurization, which was developed with input from the Almond Board of California and the almond industry, was first introduced in 2007, largely in response to two Salmonella outbreaks linked to unpasteurized almonds – one in 2001, and a second in 2004.
