There’s a LOT of information out there on food, nutrition and diets, so much so that it can be overwhelming to find a book that’s right for you.  Wouldn’t it be great to have someone sort it all out for you?

 Welcome to What We’re Reading…

This new addition to our website highlights new and favorite books from sources we know and admire.  At Almond Board of California, we work every day with professionals: real, respected dietitians, nutritionists, chefs and authors who have already helped AlmondBoard.com become your resource for recipes, news and nutritional information. What We’re Reading… can now be your source for access to our sources. The place where we connect you with our friends in the field.

What We’re Reading… is intended to be like a book club. If you look to a television talk show host for the best fiction recommendations, think of this site when it comes to food and nutrition! We receive so much great information from our friends in the community, we just had to create a way to share it with you.

 It’s as easy as ABC.

The Small Change Diet by Keri Gans, MS, RD, CDN

After years of helping clients change their habits by forming new routines to help impact their weight, popular dietitian Keri Gans used her belief that small changes make the most impact as the basis for her new book The Small Change Diet:10 Steps to a Thinner, Healthier You.

Unrealistic expectations, the latest fad diet and our instant gratification society can make losing weight seem overwhelming. The Small Change Diet shows readers that successful weight loss is achieved one small change at a time. Gans uses a simple approach by explaining how to take ten bad habits and transform them into ways to spark immediate weight loss and guarantee a lifetime of good health.

Regularly incorporating healthy snacks, like a handful of almonds, into your daily routine is one small change that’s easily made and is essential to help avoid overeating at mealtimes.

The Small Change Diet allows readers to move at their own pace, with each chapter based on one of Keri’s Ten Small Changes. Using a plan and detailed steps, readers master one change and then progress to the next, tailoring the speed and duration of the diet to their own individual needs. Combing a selection of tips, frequently asked questions, and Keri’s upbeat encouragement, The Small Change Diet makes becoming healthier and thinner as painless and enjoyable as possible!

Good news about good fat: U.S. Dietary Guidelines recommend that the majority of your fat intake be unsaturated. One serving of almonds (28g) has 13g of unsaturated fat and only 1g of saturated fat.
