National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) Archived Reports
The Almond Board of California is dedicated to educating the California Almond industry through a comprehensive offering of research and statistics. Three types of reports from NASS are archived below.
Subjective Reports
Results of the subjective survey are based on opinions obtained from growers. The sample of growers changes from year to year and is grouped by size of operation, so all growers will be represented. Each selected grower is asked to indicate their almond yield per acre from last year and expected yield for the current year. The Subjective Reports are released before the Objective Reports. This usually takes place around May first.
Objective Reports
Results of the objective survey are based on counting nut sets in a sampling of orchards. Nuts are also collected to determine weight and size measurements. The Objective Reports are usually released toward the end of June, annually. These are Almond Board funded surveys.
Acreage Reports
The California Field Office of the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) conducts an annual acreage survey of California almond growers. The purpose of this survey is to provide annual almond acreage with information on new plantings and removals. It is a continuation of a long series of Almond Board funded almond acreage surveys. This report consists of two parts: Estimated almond acreage -- bearing, non-bearing, and total. Detailed data by variety, year planted, and county -- as voluntarily reported by almond growers and maintained in the NASS data base.
Please consult the Almond Board Calendar of Events to see if the Report release dates have been announced for this year.
